From being greatly influenced by my early experiences with film photography, a pinhole camera and the outcomes of the darkroom, to using a DSLR and now to mirrorless.I feel with the right vision and ethos, a visually interesting image can be taken on any format with any equipment. Being in the darkroom is where I felt was an unspeakable place of calm, focus on creativity and being able to produce an image from start to finish through the whole process and where my love for capturing moments really stems back to.
I still love to buy a roll of film and take my time to compose, capture and get everything balanced in camera. Doing this periodically allows me to slow down and capture 30 beautiful frames.
For me, Photography is such a personal experience of creating honest, organic images which reflect my personality, experiences, my vision of humanity and the complex lives we can live and break it down to something calming, vulnerable and relatable.
Focusing on the areas of photography that resonate with me and peoples journey's whether that be food photography and products that I love myself (gin and coffee are always winners!) or a genuine raw approach to portrait photography. Capturing those Elements of ethical brands and products and creating the story of how those products are made, come from my own place of curiosity and drawing on bringing that to a wider audience. In a world where everything is quick to access and we don't think as much about how and where things come from, I feel this is important to bring into the brand story and the final product.
With 10 years experience in the health industry, I have always encouraged a healthy lifestyle and I am so excited to continue doing that within the creative space of my photography work.
“I wish that all of nature’s magnificence, the emotion of the land, the living energy of place could be photographed.” – Annie Leibovitz”
